In a bid to raise funds for the team of brave nuclear power plant workers in Japan, the Tori-Tama Group of Restaurants in Singapore will be organising a two-day fund raiser at three of their restaurants.

San-Sui Sumiyaki & Bar (Japanese grill and sushi at One Fullerton), Sol Playground Café (child-friendly restaurant in Turf City) and Sol Tasca (casual tapas bar at The Fullerton Waterboat House) will be aiming to raise S$50,000 on 22 and 23 April 2011.

Spearheaded by San-Sui Sumiyaki & Bar, and supported by the two sister restaurants of the three year-old group, Project Phoenix is an entirely non-profit initiative whereby all takings from the activities will be channelled to ‘The Fukushima Fifty’.

Elaborates Mr Suhardi Huang, General Manager of Tori-Tama Group of Restaurants: “Two of the partners of San-Sui Sumiyaki & Bar are Japanese and they feel a great need to provide as much aid as possible. We also wanted to extend support to the lesser-known victims of this tragedy – The Fukushima Fifty – who are selflessly risking their lives at the damaged nuclear plants. We hope that our small but sincere gesture will go a long way in helping these people and their families.”
