Singapore International Foundation governor Elim Chew has won a Special Award of Commendation at the Young Outstanding Singaporeans (YOS) Awards.

SIF governor receives Special Award

The YOS Award is an initiative of the Orchid Jayceettes of Singapore*, which is affiliated to the Junior Chamber of Singapore (JCS) and the Junior Chamber International (JCI).

Ms Chew, who is the founder and president of fashion chain 77th Street, was recognised for her efforts in campaigning for corporate social responsibility in the business world.

The 2011 awards ceremony also honoured seven youths based on this year’s theme − Impacting, Inspiring and Serving to create a positive change in the community.

Guest-of-honour Minister of Information, Communications and the Arts Mr Lui Tuck Yew, gave out the awards at the Raffles Town Club on Wednesday, 5 January 2011.

Previous recipients of the YOS Awards include Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, singer Stephanie Sun, and ex-Nominated Member of Parliament Eunice Olsen.

6. Mr Wang Chenwei, 22 - Second Year Undergraduate in Audio Engineering & Music Composition
7. Mr Wilson Ang, 28 - Founder, Environmental Non-Government Organisation
