Do you remember what you wanted to be when you grew up? How’s that turned out for you?
Trisha Crowe remembers. At age four, she decided she was going to be a singer.
Now she’s performing as a soprano in The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber which features a star studded musical cast including Delia Hanna, Michael Cormick, Andrew Conaghan and Blake Bowden.
It didn’t happen by chance though. She took dancing and acting lessons and often appeared in concerts and plays – all to help her realise her childhood ambition.
Crowe's love and affection for the theatre was further propelled after watching The Phantom of the Opera. It was then that the Australian decided to pursue classical singing, appreciating how much music and voice could move and uplift an audience.
Spreading the cheer
Asked if she has ever regretted going into theatre, Crowe replied with conviction: “Never!”
“Whether it’s perfecting a musical line in the studio or creating a special connection with the audience, this is what I love to do,” Crowe said.
But her love for singing, dancing and acting isn’t just for herself. Working with members of the Sydney Symphony, Crowe is part of a music therapy programme where small concerts are held for those with mental and physically disabilities.
While many of us aspire to do what we love, love what we do and most importantly, live on what we love, Trisha Crowe has added a new line to the aspiration: help others with what we love.
